Nothing better than winning a poker tournament?

November 18, 2008 : Posted by admin

I've won a few poker tournaments in my day and I believe there is no greater feeling than winning a poker tournament. The odds are against you and you come through. I get such a sense of accomplishment from winning poker tournaments. I get that feeling from nothing else. So do you all agree? Nothing feels better than winning a poker tournament? Not even sex.
Yeah, maybe I overexagerated about the sex part. I just won a poker tournament last night. It felt great.

I agree with you,,,, Well,,,,, Up to the last three words anyway,

Is there a reason poker player stand up during a tournament?

November 15, 2008 : Posted by admin

I was watching a poker tournament on tv and sometimes some of the players stand up during a round. Are they just trying to see the cards better or something else? Thanks!

They usually stand up when they are all-in. When that happens you will be nervous and uptight so its natural for players to stand up anxiously waiting for the cards to be shown.

What is the best free Poker Tournament Manager program?

November 13, 2008 : Posted by admin

I'm looking for a program to manage a Poker tournament, no trial version's.

One of the best ones out there is $24.99. If you are going to run a real tournament, don't be a tight a55. Just go out and buy it.

The time and effort you waste with some crappy free program is not worth the hassle for $24.99.

How to win at a poker tournament?

November 11, 2008 : Posted by admin

I am a good poker player but I've never played in a tournament. Anyone has any good tips please?!

play a little looser than you normally would since time is limited and you won't have all night to wait for the great hands. Early on when the stakes are lower advertise, that is play hands that aren't very good or even bad as long as you can get to the show down cheaply, your opponents will think you play those bad hands, then later when the stakes are higher play better hands and you'll get calls from people expecting you to play the crap you were playing with at the begining. Of course selective aggresion is key. If you feel the other players are better than you steal pots by going all in preflop with the best hands if you can, then they can't out play you, you've only left them with one decision(to play or not) rather than the many decisions the would have the the choice to make if you hadn't. Lastly its not enough to be good, but you also have to get lucky, such is the nature of a tournament. Without know what game you're playing thats all I can concisely add.

Where can I host a private poker tournament online?

I know of certain poker rooms that allow private tournaments. Most of which require you to play for real money first then collect a certain amount of comp points before persuing a private tournament status. If anyone can assist please.

One of the best places to host your private tournaments is at absolute. If you aren't a player there yet you will have to sign up and become part of their VIP program. You must have earned 5000VIP points in order to have this privledge and then you can host all the tournaments you want. I have posted the absolute private tournament info for you along with a link.

I wish you luck, private tournaments can be alot of fun!

What materials do you use for a home poker tournament?

November 07, 2008 : Posted by admin

I'm setting up a home poker tournament. So far I have plenty of chips and cards, a table, felt, a timer, dealer, small blind and big blind buttons… what else could I use?

A cut card would be helpful. Food for your guests, something like chili, a sandwich bar, pretzels, peanuts, etc. is best because you don't have to worry about greasy fingers on your cards and chips. A chart with the chip denominations if they're printed not on your chips is a good idea, as is a chart for the blind schedules so everyone knows them.

If you want to do pizza, I'd suggest having a dinner break part way through it so people aren't getting pizza grease and sauce all over everything.

Where can I find a poker tournament event near where I live?

November 01, 2008 : Posted by admin

I love playing poker, and have been playing online for the last couple years with house money. Now I want to find a live tournament near where I live. Where can I go to find information about tournaments in my area? I can't seem to find any good sites online. Thanks in advance for your response.

If you do not have any Card rooms near by, Charity poker events are sure to be around. Try googling hold em (your city here).

Is it legal to hold a poker tournament without a gaming license if I don't take a cut of the pot?

November 01, 2008 : Posted by admin

i was planning on holding a small poker tournament in a non-casino building in Michigan. I wasn't going to take a cut of the pot only charge money for people to get in. The pot is a 100% give. Is this legal? It would be a big help if you could also post a link to specific legislature that states the laws about gambling. Thanks.

No, it is not legal. The part at the end of this paragraph sums it up. To play for money at all, while not in a casino building you'd have to be in a home or residence and make no money for operating the game. That would qualify a rake or a entry fee as "making money". Keep in mind that in a poker tournament there is no rake…only an entry fee.
